I was really tired of deploying my Hugo based content manually on Azure, I decided to follow this post from my colleague Davide about using Hugo with Azure Static Web Apps.

I started from the easiest one, my personal website, and after some problems (not related to Hugo or Azure, but to the wrong customizations that I did on the templates), now I have a working Static Web App connected to a GitHub repo, that gets compiled and deployed when the repo is updated (using VS Code in my case).

Next step... upgrading this blog... but not now!

Sometimes you need to press a button to stop paying 15€ per month...

This is a great way to "talk" to your future self, to check if you've reached your current objectives, to make you think about the way you evolve, to give you an excuse to review your plans and your results.

I've started using it some months ago, and I'm enjoying it!

Why sometimes parts of this site are not updated?

I'm using Hugo to run this blog, and here you can find all the posts (not many at the moment 😉) about it. Sometimes the blog is not "fully" updated, in the sense that the RSS feed, the home page, and the latest post are updated, while all the other pages are missing the link to the newest post.
This is because, at the moment, I'm "compiling" and "publishing" the blog from my PC (yes, yes... I know I should use a GitHub Action, I'm working on it).

To make the story short, when I have low bandwidth, I'm publishing only the latest pages without the full update of the site.

Mystery solved!

One Prerequisite to be the Best Version of Ourselves

I always speak about "being the Best Version of Yourself" during my courses and mentoring sessions about Public Speaking.
There are many ways to reach that state, but the First Prerequisite is related to having a full body and mental energy.
You cannot be the best version of yourself if you haven't slept well and the right amount of hours (that changes between different persons), if you're hungry or thirsty, if you're not in a "good" physical shape (at least for that day).

So, if you want to impress people, start by taking care of your energy.

LinkedIn SSI (Social Selling Index) is an interesting value to rank your LinkedIn Profile. You can also use the SSI to improve your profile, following the directions inside the (?) for each category of the score.
One thing that I'm missing, since the latest updates, is the SSI history to see if my efforts are giving the desired results.

This evening I'll talk about App Modernization and one of the topics that I'll barely touch is the process to go from Lift & Shift to real App Modernization, and on "transition topic" is the existing App Containerization.
This tool is a game changer to automate the process, both for Java and .NET developers.

Finally the decision to write in English is beginning to bear fruit!

I'm talking about www.publicspeaking.dev where most of the posts are in English, and this year's stats are paying dividends 😉.

Sometimes it's more challenging to express nontechnical topics in another language, but it's an excellent exercise for me.
I'm missing some sessions in English right now, especially since now I moved back to the Italian Sub, and I've fewer occasions to speak in English for a longer time.

I've always learned a lot from women at work, especially in this male-dominated field.
From diverse perspectives, a team can reach higher goals, a conference can be more engaging, and a product can be more pleasant and better to use.
I want to celebrate all the women I've met at work, during events, community dinners, etc. I want to thank each of you for my growth, especially when you taught me something, even if you didn't notice.

Andare in scena, davanti ad una webcam: il linguaggio del corpo, la gestione dell’ansia, come mantenere il contatto con il pubblico.
Consigli pratici e a cosa fare attenzione se la presentazione è in inglese.

Due mattinate, una più teorica, e una dove mettersi alla prova.

I'm late to the party... One of my projects was included in the GitHub Artic Code Vault.

I'm not an avid GitHub user. I've created only one project there (Azure DevOps WorkItem Sync) and I'm happy because it was included in the 2020 GitHub Archive Program.
I didn't notice it until some days ago, and that gave me a strange feeling 😊. It's not one of the world's most active projects, but I received some good feedback from people who needed it.
